Tron R2D2 Build Part 2
Making progress on the build. Most of the body LEDs are installed. You can see in the video all the fun that can be had with a fully addressable LEDs controlled by WLED. Had to redo some of the panels and try different ways to fully light them. Some of the LEDs I'm using are pre-diffused "Neon" strips some are traditional LED strips. I'm trying to get a consistent Neon/Tron look to the lights. The problem is that the neon strips are very tall, not quite as bright and don't work well lighting an area as opposed to a line.
To solve this I'm using some the tricks I use with my lighted signs. I'm engraving an area of acrylic and surrounding it with the LED strip. The end effect is that it lights the entire area that has been engraved. As a bonus, because the LEDs are on their sides its harder to see the individual LEDs and work for the more consistent neon look in a larger area. You can see this in R2's vents and the the lower greeblies.
Next up is to finish the dome LEDs.
